Abstract
Campé dans une approche descriptive, cet article vise à décrire l’expérience d’engagement de parents d’enfants rencontrant une diversité de besoins au primaire et au secondaire. À l’issue de l’analyse par réseau des réponses obtenues à un questionnaire électronique rempli par 408 parents, les principaux résultats montrent que le nombre de diagnostics rapportés par certains parents en réponse aux besoins de leur enfant est important, variant de deux à sept. Également, la majorité des parents se disent généralement satisfaits du soutien reçu par leur enfant à l’école alors que d’autres évoquent une communication difficile avec les intervenants scolaires. Ces résultats soulèvent des questions concernant la persistance de la médicalisation des difficultés des enfants et de son influence possible sur l’engagement parental.
