Abstract
La creciente y exponencial conciencia patrimonial iniciada en España durante los años ochenta posibilitó un campo abierto de lecturas y acciones en la ciudad que encaminaron la disciplina arquitectónica hacia una sensibilidad más respetuosa con la ciudad histórica. El presente trabajo de investigación busca rastrear y dar cuenta de las operaciones, dentro de ese contexto, llevadas a cabo por el arquitecto Juan Antonio Molina Serrano. Con tal objetivo se analizan, en primera instancia, las condiciones de partida o algunos de los presupuestos teórico-críticos que pudieron haber arropado su trabajo dentro de este campo patrimonial, así como los principales recorridos que se han unido a su actividad proyectual. De este modo, se distinguen tres principales niveles o categorías de intervención: las ‘apropiaciones o matizaciones’, las ‘modificaciones o ampliaciones’ y, por último, aquellas que pretenden ‘trascender el lugar y construir un nuevo lugar’. En su conjunto, pueden entenderse como aclaratorias y como cajas de resonancia de su tiempo y contexto, pero también como personalísimas maneras de operar, a partir de un principio o idea generatriz: construir arquitectura consiste en pensar, antes que nada, en construir un lugar.
