Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society seeks nominations for the 38th Gustavus John Esselen Award for Chemistry in the Public Interest. This annual award is given to a chemical scientist whose scientific and technical work has contributed significantly to the public well-being and in doing so has communicated the positive values of the chemical profession. Each nominee should be a living resident of the US or Canada at the time of nomination, and the public impact of their work should have been apparent within the 5 years preceding the nomination. The award consists of a bronze medal, a $5,000 honorarium, and covered travel expenses to the local section’s April 2025 meeting, where the award will be presented. The awardee will deliver an address on the subject of the work for which the honor is bestowed. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 11 . Nominations should be submitted to

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
