Abstract
This work demonstrates the applications of Lu 2 O 3 -Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 Yb-doped glasses for optical refrigeration. Samples prepared by modified chemical vapor deposition, combined with solution-doping, exhibits near-unity quantum efficiency, with Yb-content ranging from 10 25 to 10 26 m -3 .
