La réduction de la solidarité à des domaines dédiés, comme les politiques sociales ou la charité, empêche de bien saisir la richesse de la théorie solidariste établie par Léon Bourgeois à la fin du XIX e siècle. Pourtant, le solidarisme portait déjà en germe une vision écologique, une « solidarité cosmique », qui ne peut qu’aider à mieux répondre à la crise environnementale actuelle. En mobilisant une vision de la doctrine cosmopolitique, cet article cherche à montrer en quoi les outils du solidarisme, comme la loi de l’interdépendance réciproque, la dette sociale et le quasi-contrat, peuvent s’actualiser pour fonder un solidarisme écologique et une solidarité totale.
