Abstract
Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook plantations play an important role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. This experiment explored the effects of seed shell biochar and meal organic fertilizer derived from Camellia oleifera Abel on the growth characteristics of Cunninghamia lanceolata, as well as the effects on soil fertility and microbial community. The results demonstrated that the use of tea seed shell biochar or meal organic fertilizer improved plant height, biomass, chlorophyll content, and N, P, and K content of Cunninghamia lanceolata. They increased the pH of acid-red soil and improved soil fertility, including organic matter, total nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, available phosphorus, total potassium, and available potassium. However, they decreased ammonium nitrogen. They increased the alpha diversity of the bacteria, but had no significant effect on the alpha diversity of the fungi. They also enhanced the relative abundances of Gammaproteobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria, Leotiomycetes, and Sordariomycetes, but reduced the relative abundances of Acidobacteriae and Agaricomycetes. To sum up, the use of tea seed shell biochar and meal organic fertilizer could promote the growth and nutrient absorption of Cunninghamia lanceolata, while modifying soil fertility and improving the structure of microbial communities.
