Abstract
This chapter covers the author's journey from Sakhalin to Vladivostok. The author sailed Vladivostok to Japan aboard the steamer <italic>Tartar</italic>, which belonged to the Canada Company. Compared to his previous ship experiences, the steamer <italic>Sungari</italic> left much to be desired due to its filth, stench, kitchen scrap, and sluice. The chapter mentions that it was completely unnoticeable that a war was going on throughout the Vladivostok city. It then explains how Karl Ivanovich Bogdanovich did not stay long with the expedition and left for Japan. Meanwhile, the author, on the other hand, decided to leave aboard the Volunteer Fleet steamer <italic>Kherson</italic>.
