Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract. Bandung City experienced a golden era when it was developed under the garden city concept, which emphasized the importance of green spaces in urban planning. However, historic parks from the garden city era in Bandung now face significant challenges, particularly related to the loss of their original characteristics. Molukken Park (Taman Maluku), a historical park from the garden city era, has undergone three stages of revitalization: addressing social issues, adding new facilities, and beautifying the park. These revitalizations have altered the park's original characteristics. As a cultural heritage site, Molukken Park should maintain its historical landscape features in accordance with Law No. 11 of 2010. Therefore, a study of Molukken Park's characteristics is needed. This research analyzes the characteristics and changes of the park using an archaeological approach consisting of observation, description, and explanation, followed by an analysis of appropriate enhancement efforts based on identified differences. The findings indicate that while Molukken Park still offers beauty, diversity, and lushness, retaining its flat topography, organic model, tropical flora dominance, and the Pastor H.C. Verbraak statue as a colonial feature, the park has experienced changes such as the loss of integration with important colonial buildings, tree arrangements blocking vistas, and poorly managed water features. Recommended enhancement efforts include preserving natural elements and historical monuments, adapting colonial architecture, improving water features, relocating obstructive trees and trash disposal sites (TPS), and revitalizing non-physical aspects such as hosting Jaarbeur events and reinstating the park's original name.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
