Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This chapter analyses the Inuit Nunangat Policy (endorsed by Canadian Inuit representatives and the federal government in April 2022) from two different perspectives. First, it presents the document as a symbolic but tangible step on the long road to ending the colonial framework imposed on Inuit by Ottawa. It shows the efforts of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami to recognise the Inuit Nunangat as an Inuit homeland consisting of four Inuit regions. Secondly, the chapter portrays the federal Inuit Nunangat Policy as another step on the road to overhauling relations with Indigenous peoples promised in 2015 by the Liberal candidate and eventual Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It analyses the work of the Inuit-Crown Partnership Committee that led to the enactment of the Inuit Nunangat Policy as well as challenges in the implementation of the new policy.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
