Abstract
S’intéressant au décor du château de Fiches, un plafond peint du xviie siècle orné de figures animales, cette étude interroge l’instabilité d’un dispositif ornemental et les mutations de sa réception, tant aujourd’hui que par le passé. La découverte des modèles utilisés pour la réalisation du décor ouvre une réflexion sur la fonction attribuée aux images animales, transférées depuis le livre de gravures jusqu’à l’œuvre monumentale via des procédés d’adaptations et de références croisées. L’examen des sources à l’origine des figures révèle de profondes variations entre les différents secteurs du plafond, de l’allégorie au naturalisme, suggérant une réappropriation et une réinterprétation du programme décoratif au cours de l’histoire et montrant, par l’intermédiaire des représentations animales, que le décor est toujours éphémère
