Abstract
Le présent article vise à offrir une nouvelle perspective sur la construction des identités par l’étude des pratiques alimentaires d’une communauté religieuse québécoise de cuisinières. Nous envisagerons plus précisément la composante ascétique dans les pratiques alimentaires des Antoniennes de Marie, une communauté au service du clergé, de 1904 à 2013. À partir d’un travail de terrain et d’une recherche en archives, l’analyse démontre comment les voeux de pauvreté et de chasteté façonnent les pratiques de pénitences et de mortifications alimentaires ainsi que les manières de table. L’auteure constate des assouplissements importants dans ces usages après le Concile Vatican II.
