Abstract
Desde hace algunos años, el Partido Comunista Chino (PCCh) promueve el concepto de «civilización ecológica» como alternativa teórica y práctica al «desarrollo sostenible». Se ha llevado al más alto nivel político para promover un desarrollo ecológico «con características chinas», lo que puede parecer paradójico dado el voraz uso de recursos y los niveles de contaminación del país. Sin embargo, el Gobierno chino lo ha utilizado en gran medida para responder a la crisis medioambiental y social a partir de la década de 2010, sacándolo de la esfera intelectual y poniéndolo en práctica en una serie de políticas y medidas. Este concepto también ha servido para legitimar el refuerzo del control del gobierno central y el despliegue de métodos de vigilancia basados en la tecnología digital, hasta el punto de convertirse en un instrumento de influencia externa.
