Abstract
With the growth in demand for food and raw materials from the countryside, the amount of waste and residues increases as a result, which, when not disposed of properly, become the cause of health and environmental problems.Currently, one of the appropriate solutions to solve such problems is the installation of biodigesters in rural areas, such as farms and companies linked to agriculture and livestock.These biodigesters, in addition to reducing the environmental impacts generated by agricultural activities, also help to reduce the emission of methane gas (greenhouse gas) and generate clean energy for the places where they are installed, reducing the cost in the activity chain.Considering that the biggest obstacle to implementing biodigester systems is the installation costs, this study aimed to present the best-known models, size a unit of the most widely used biodigester in the country -the Canadian model, as well as calculate the cost price of implementation on a rural property and the viability for the return on investment costs.
