Quel métier pour l'interculturalisme au Québec ?qu el M étier pou r l'i n tercu ltu r a liSM e au qu ébec ?• 23 L'interculturalisme après la Commission Bouchard-Taylor Dans un récent livre sur l'interculturalisme, l'historien et sociologue Gérard Bouchard donne l'impression que cette notion, malgré un certain flou entourant sa définition, ferait l'objet d'un consensus assez large au Québec :Au Québec même, l'interculturalisme bénéficie présentement de larges appuis dans la population (comme l'ont montré les audiences publiques de la Commission Bouchard-Taylor).La très grande majorité des mémoires et témoignages transmis à la commission se prononçaient en faveur de ce modèle comme étant la voie à suivre pour le Québec, même si les définitions qu'ils en proposaient restaient en général très succinctes.Un fort consensus en ressortait toutefois sur trois points : a) le rejet du multiculturalisme canadien ; b) le rejet de l'assimilation ; c) l'importance de l'intégration sur la base des valeurs fondamentales de la société québécoise.Néanmoins, l'interculturalisme fait maintenant l'objet d'importantes interrogations et critiques.Il est certain qu'il reste un important travail à faire en termes de clarification, de promotion et d'application de ce modèle.(Bouchard, 2012 : 11-12)
