Abstract
ResumenEl artculo expone resultados de investigacin sobre el sentido de la escuela en contexto indgena, desde las voces de sabios mapuches de La Araucana, Chile.Los sabios y sabias mapuches son reconocidos por la comunidad por ser quienes conocen la historia social, cultural y familiar de su pueblo, as como su lengua y su cultura.Son quienes transmiten a las nuevas generaciones la memoria social mapuche.La metodologa es cualitativa desde un enfoque descriptivo, se trabaj entrevistas en profundidad con 12 sabios y sabias indgenas mapuche, quienes vivieron procesos de escolarizacin formal en colegios monoculturales chilenos.Su edad flucta entre 40 y 70 aos y todos son hablantes de su lengua verncula mapuche (mapunzugun).La tcnica de anlisis de la informacin fue el anlisis temtico, permitiendo relevar categoras de contenidos centrales que emergen del discurso de los participantes y que permiten comprender el sentido de la escuela y sus huellas en contexto mapuche.Concluimos que es urgente visibilizar los traumas psicolgicos, fsicos y afectivos que ha dejado la escuela, producto de las prcticas de blanqueamiento y genocidio cultural.Esto, como una oportunidad para avanzar en la reparacin y reconciliacin entre los sujetos indgenas y no indgenas
