Abstract

Academic stress has been identified as one of the major issues in education. Prolonged exposure to academic stress can result in serious health and mental issues as well as educational problems. This suggests that academic stress detection is of great importance. Stress has several markers among which physiological markers have been reported to be quite effective and practical. However, there exist just a few review studies. The present study considers academic stress from several aspects. This paper is divided into two main parts. The first part focuses on academic stress, its causes, results, and symptoms. The second section reviews the recent journal publications in physiology-based academic stress detection studies. These studies are finally discussed. This paper provides a comprehensive perspective and appropriate insight into academic stress. This will help interested researchers to get to know recent advances in this area.
