Abstract
Le Canada compte plus de 18 millions de femmes (9,8 millions d’entre elles étant des mères), dont plusieurs assument de multiples responsabilités à la maison, au travail et au sein de leur collectivité. Depuis plusieurs générations, les femmes au Canada entretiennent des rapports changeants avec le monde du travail, et cette situation évolue et se renouvelle encore et toujours. La réalité des femmes est très différente de celle des hommes à cet égard et se caractérise par une grande diversité parmi les femmes elles-mêmes, où entrent en ligne de compte de nombreux facteurs en lien notamment avec les normes et les attentes culturelles, le statut familial, l’incapacité et certaines caractéristiques démographiques. Afin de mieux comprendre les réalités multiples et évolutives des femmes au Canada par rapport au travail et à la famille, l’Institut Vanier de la famille a publié Coup d’œil sur les femmes, le travail et la famille au Canada. Ce document sert de complément à notre ligne du temps intitulée Cinquante ans : les femmes, le travail et la famille au Canada, qui illustre visuellement les expériences diversifiées des femmes au Canada en lien avec le travail et la famille.
