Abstract
University students’ engagement in their academic experience has been linked to both greater retention and higher levels of academic achievement. Recognizing that COVID-19 had a negative effect on university engagement, the goal of this study was to measure the level of academic engagement post-pandemic. It was hypothesized that individual difference variables, such as academic self-esteem and resilience would significantly contribute to greater academic engagement, as would institutional variables, such as professor-student rapport. Online self-report questionnaires were completed by 271 second-year Carleton University students. Results indicated that academic self-esteem, resilience, and professor-student rapport were significantly and positively correlated with academic engagement. Professor-student rapport remained a significant predictor of academic engagement, even after controlling for individual levels of academic self-esteem. These findings indicate that students play an active role in their university engagement, and that support from professors can play a significant role in their university experience.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
