Abstract
This article considers three photographs from Marcos Zimmermann’s Desnudos sudamericanos. Each photograph presents a portrait of a father and son. Using these photographs, I set out to consider how we might account for the homosociality at play in these photographs. I argue that these photographs confound normative expectations of homosociality and afford a view into what ‘intimate fatherhood’ and ‘homosociality’ might look like. The goal of this article is to return to key concepts in the critical study of men and masculinities and render them interesting once more, with an appreciation for nuance and complexity.
