Abstract
L 'ouvrage ici recensé est une retranscription d'une conférence donnée à l'invitation de la Société d'ethnologie le 18 mars 2022 au musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac, par Thomas Piketty, un économiste mondialement connu pour son ouvrage Le Capital au XXI e (2013).L'objectif général de cette conférence est de démontrer que ce que Piketty nomme des « régimes inégalitaires » ne sont pas le résultat de déterminismes naturels ou culturels, mais plutôt celui de rapports de force entre structures institutionnelles et mouvements sociaux.Pour ce faire, il définit la réalité de ces régimes, pour ensuite proposer des moyens pour réduire ces inégalités.Il termine en avançant deux hypothèses : la lutte contre les changements climatiques est intimement liée à la réduction des inégalités sociales ; l'ostentatoire concentration des richesses voile une marche réelle vers l'égalité.
