With the growing size of experimental data and the increase of computational power, there have been revolutionary new tools developed to model these datasets. Broadly falling under data science and machine learning, these techniques have the power to not only model new systems but also fundamentally alter how we analyze the systems we already have. In this book we will bring together computational tools such as neural networks, sparse regression, dynamic mode decomposition, and semidefinite programming to provide an accurate understanding of dynamic data. These techniques build upon the extensive work from pencil-and-paper dynamical systems techniques that go back decades and sometimes even centuries. The result will be an introduction to methods that complement, not replace, the analysis of time-dependent systems.
