Cet article présente une réflexion concernant les approches décoloniales en sciences sociales, à partir d’un processus de cartographie participative avec de jeunes Autochtones en milieu urbain (Montréal, Québec, Canada). S’engager dans une recherche significative avec les communautés autochtones urbaines implique de répondre à deux problèmes principaux. Premièrement, la colonialité de l’espace urbain, lieu de dépossession, d’exclusion et d’invisibilisation des Peuples autochtones, tant sur le plan matériel qu’en termes de représentations. Deuxièmement, la hiérarchie des connaissances et la colonialité implicite des processus de recherche. L’utilisation de méthodes de cocréation de connaissances, telles que la cartographie participative, offre des possibilités de décolonisation autant pour les processus de recherche que pour les espaces sociaux dans lesquels elles se déploient et les acteurs et actrices qui vivent et construisent ces espaces. À partir de la présentation et l’analyse de la mise en place d’un atelier de cartographie participative, nous discutons du déploiement d’un polylogue qui a permis la création de relations entre les cochercheurs. Le principal résultat de cet atelier demeure la mise en place d’une méthodologie décoloniale qui soutient, encore à ce jour, un riche processus de recherche.
