Abstract
Michèle Cournoyer est l’une des figures les plus importantes de l’animation contemporaine en Amérique du Nord. Dans ses courts métrages, elle utilise l’animation comme un art au potentiel illimité pour exprimer des sujets difficiles et met de l’avant l’autoreprésentation surréaliste et fictive. Si l’on examine son travail d’un point de vue féministe, son apport à la discipline est essentiel. Elle a été l’une des pionnières de la production d’œuvres féministes au Québec et elle démontre un talent remarquable pour représenter l’expérience intime, y compris la sexualité, les désirs, le rapport au corps et de nombreux autres thèmes féministes d’une manière différente de celle des médias de masse. Cet article présente le travail de Michèle Cournoyer dans le contexte plus large de la création des femmes en animation cinématographique. Il explore l’impact de son désengagement vis-à-vis de l’appareillage numérique et la manière dont le rejet des dispositifs informatiques stimule son potentiel créatif.
