Entre 1976 e 1985 as Nações Unidas (ONU) declararam a Década das Mulheres, o período no qual haveria uma elaboração incisiva de uma agenda voltada para a melhora nas condições de vida das mulheres. O propósito dessa pesquisa é analisar como as pautas das mulheres do Sul Global influenciaram essa agenda, investigando, para isso, as três principais conferências da década - Cidade do México (1975), Copenhague (1980), Nairobi (1985), e estudando como as demandas dos principais Movimentos das Mulheres se relacionavam com o contexto socioeconômico global. Concluiu-se que, apesar dos objetivos da Década não terem sido plenamente contemplados, outros avanços foram feitos, e mesmo autoras do Sul Global, críticas às discussões das conferências, defendem que os movimentos feministas do Sul ganharam força graças à maior visibilidade que a ONU proporcionou.
