Abstract
El libro rinde tributo al profesor Mario Bunge (1919-2020) por su trayectoria académica, profesional e intelectual, en la que destacan veintiún doctorados ad honorem, más de medio millar de artículos y más de centena y media de libros, entre otros. Trabajo que ha influenciado a filósofos y científicos de todo el mundo; de manera más particular, trabajos de tesis doctoral, de investigación de maestría y de pregrado de la Universidad del Valle y, más en concreto, del grupo de investigación Episteme: Filosofía y Ciencia. Dos razones adicionales se suman a este homenaje: la distinción que le hizo la Universidad del Valle al otorgarle el doctorado honoris causa en Filosofía el 25 de abril de 2016 y su lamentable fallecimiento el 24 de febrero del 2020, a la edad de cien años. Trece artículos de profesores e investigadores de la Universidad del Valle y de otras universidades nacionales y extranjeras conforman el libro; en ellos exponen, examinan y debaten distintas tesis del pensamiento filosófico del profesor Bunge sobre ciencia, realismo y materialismo, principalmente. El libro cierra con el apéndice “Mi relación académica con Colombia: mensaje desde Montreal, Canadá”, que es la trascripción de la videograbación de la intervención del profesor Bunge con motivo de su investidura como doctor honoris causa.
