Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This chapter reviews the medical health insurance systems of seven developed, Western nations: the United Kingdom (UK), Sweden, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the United States of America (USA). It summarizes the characteristics and challenges of these countries' public health insurance systems based on research reports and government records from 1995 to 2019. Based on funding type, public health insurance systems are mainly divided into three types: the government-funded tax revenue model such as that of the UK, Sweden, Australia and Canada; the social insurance model, which is financed via compulsory premiums, as in France and Germany; and the mixed model, consisting of private insurance for most citizens and the tax revenue model for vulnerable groups, as in the USA. In Europe and the USA, where super-ageing societies are on the rise, the demand for long-term care is increasing in all countries.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
