Setiap daerah memiliki adat pernikahan dengan latarbelakang yang berbeda-beda termasuk kawin colong yang dimiliki suku Osing Desa Kemiren Kecamatan Glagah Kabupaten Banyuwangi. Terjadinya kawin colong bermula karena perjodohan anak dibawah umur, tidak ada persetujuan orang tua terhadap pasangan anak dan ketidaksiapan orangtua menikahkan anak. Sedangkan dengan adanya perkembangan zaman yang modern ini dapat dilihat masyarakat sudah mulai memberikan kebebasan kepada anak untuk memilih pasangan hidupnya sehingga praktek kawin colong sudah mulai jarang digunakan. Penulisan ini berhasil menyimpulkan bahwa (1) Kawin colong pada masyarakat suku Osing dimulai dari menculik pihak perempuan yang dilakukan oleh laki-laki karena tidak ada persetujuan, setelah melakukan colongan pihak lelaki mengirimkan colok (juru bicara) untuk memberi kabar bahwa anak perempuannya telah dicolong oleh lelakinya, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa laki-laki serius dalam hubungan pernikahannya dan diterima dalam lingkup Islam. (2) Upaya yang dilakukan masyarakat Islam suku Osing Desa Kemiren dalam mempertahankan adat kawin colong tidak ada secara praktek ataupun berkala, namun secara tidak langsung ada upaya yang tersirat dalam mengenalkan adat kawin colong yang dilakukan tetua-tetua Desa Kemiren melalui penjelasan lisan ke lisan pada murid, pemuda dan masyarakat yang berkunjung untuk pengetahuaan sosial tentang adat
