Abstract
( Int J Obstet Anesth. 2024:57:103935. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijoa.2023.103935) Cesarean section (CS) is a significant surgical procedure for young and generally healthy patients, marking a crucial emotional milestone. Neuraxial anesthesia (NA) is preferred for CS due to its safety advantages over general anesthesia, including reduced blood loss, improved postoperative pain control, and decreased neonatal exposure to drugs. While it allows patients and their partners to experience childbirth intimately, NA carries known risks such as hypotension, headache, and inadequate pain relief. Sedation is minimal during CS to ensure neonatal safety and preserve parental bonding. Preoperative anxiety affects postoperative outcomes and patient satisfaction, emphasizing the need for comprehensive patient education and counseling. However, there is limited recent data on patients’ perceptions of surgical sensations during CS under NA, highlighting the importance of this study’s detailed assessment to improve patient care and inform future research.
