Abstract
The research aims to describe the training programs, admission rules, curricula, and material-technical support of the educational process at the First Siberian Polytechnic School in Tomsk, based on its key characteristics. The article then evaluates the degree to which the institution aligns with the actual needs of the Russian economy. The novelty of the research lies in analyzing the basic principles of the institution from both a historical-pedagogical and an economic perspective. The early 20th century witnessed deep economic and socio-political transformations in Russia. This changing reality necessitated adjustments across all spheres of society, including education. Educational institutions had to adapt to the real needs of the economy and society. As a result, the research reveals that the Polytechnic School played a crucial role in training specialists for various branches of the national economy at the end of the first quarter of the 20th century.
