Abstract
<h2>Abstract</h2> Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is characterized by orthostatic tachycardia in the absence of orthostatic hypotension. It primarily affects females of childbearing age. Although numerous pathophysiological mechanisms have been proposed, the etiology of this syndrome remains unknown. There are 3 subtypes of POTS, including neuropathic, hypovolemic, and hyperadrenergic. Nonpharmacological and pharmacological approaches are employed in the management of POTS; however, there are no approved pharmacological approaches in Canada. The purpose of this review is to outline current recommendations for management of POTS and provide a succinct guide for nurse practitioners to manage POTS in clinical settings.
