Introducción: El artículo presenta un balance del avance de Colombia en el cumplimiento de los objetivos de desminado, como parte de los compromisos internacionales establecidos en la Convención de Ottawa, vigente desde 2001. Los esfuerzos de desminado en Colombia comenzaron oficialmente en 2004, lo que permite una revisión de los últimos 20 años del proceso. Metodología: Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo utilizando los datos abiertos disponibles en el geoportal de la Acción Integral contra Minas Antipersonal (AICMA) para evaluar el progreso hasta diciembre de 2023. Resultados: El análisis indica un ritmo anual de despeje aproximado de 1.900.000 m². A este ritmo, se necesitarían al menos 20 años más para cubrir los 52.000.000 m² estimados de áreas contaminadas en Colombia. Discusión: Es relevante señalar que, de los 20 años analizados, solo en 19 se registró actividad de despeje. Esta proyección no contempla posibles incrementos en las zonas minadas. Conclusiones: Los esfuerzos de desminado en Colombia avanzan de forma sostenida, pero se requiere compromiso continuo y recursos adicionales para alcanzar los objetivos a largo plazo, dado el ritmo actual de despeje y el posible aumento de áreas contaminadas.
