En la región del Bas-Saint-Laurent (Quebec) están emergiendo diferentes iniciativas y alternativas de protección del paisaje y conservación de la naturaleza. Este artículo explora esos casos de protección del medio ambiente, situándolos en el marco más amplio de la conservación de la naturaleza y de las áreas protegidas en Quebec, prestando atención especial a los actores que los promueven, a la manera en que se estructura este sector, unas veces al margen del Estado y otras veces con su apoyo, así como al tipo de actividades en las que se hace hincapié. Esto permite entender cómo esas iniciativas tratan de habitar el territorio de otra manera, cómo valorizan la naturaleza de forma diferente, y a qué se debe su aparición.
