Este trabajo analiza cómo las políticas públicas ayudan a construir una marca ciudad orientada al turismo, esencial en el mercado global. La marca ciudad busca atraer visitantes y fortalecer la identidad local. Se estudian los casos de Barcelona, Pátzcuaro, Hamburgo y Edmonton, mostrando cómo integran cultura, patrimonio y economía en sus estrategias de branding. Los resultados indican que el éxito depende de una identidad auténtica, la colaboración entre gobierno, sector privado y comunidad, y políticas que equilibren el turismo y la calidad de vida. Este enfoque mejora la competitividad turística y fomenta ciudades sostenibles y habitables
