O objetivo do presente artigo é refletir sobre as principais características, desafios e assistência a cuidadores de pessoas idosas com demência no Brasil. A literatura descreve os cuidadores como pessoas predominantemente do sexo feminino e familiares da pessoa idosa. Destaca-se que o cuidado de pessoas com demências gera múltiplos desafios, entre eles financeiros e emocionais. Deste modo, são necessárias ações e políticas públicas de assistência aos cuidadores.
