Abstract
Comme les jours, les années se suivent et, de temps à autre, elles charrient de déplorables ressemblances avec celles qui les ont devancées. Ce quinzième Cahier Charlevoix en procure un nouvel exemple, car il s’ouvre, comme le précédent, sur un hommage à un estimé confrère disparu : Ali Reguigui (1958-2023), décédé prématurément dans un accident de la route le 29 novembre 2023. Élu en 2015 au sixième fauteuil de la Société Charlevoix, il a publié entre 2016 et 2022 quatre articles dans notre collectif. Avec sa collègue et collaboratrice Julie Boissonneault, élue en même temps et rédactrice de son éloge, il apportait à notre confrérie un regard de linguiste et de phonéticien, contribuant à élargir le spectre de nos études sur l’Ontario français. Cet « homme de mots », d’un abord discret et toujours pertinent dans nos échanges, se passionnait pour la langue française de son pays d’adoption et s’employait « dans les coulisses universitaires » à la promouvoir et à la faire rayonner par tous les moyens à sa disposition. À notre réunion d’avril 2024, Ali Reguigui a été nommé membre émérite de notre société.
