Les politiques linguistiques devraient être conçues pour les locuteurs et non pour les langues. Pour cela, la confiance des locuteurs et aux locuteurs pourrait être un axe de définition des politiques de traduction sur au moins trois points : le droit d’utiliser sa « langue de cœur » nécessite une information constante des locuteurs, et aussi des non-locuteurs des langues autochtones d’un territoire donné, sur le multilinguisme ; la traduction et l’autotraduction, la terminographie, ainsi que l’interprétation, sont de nature à soutenir le choix de vivre dans cette langue ; des formations, des ressources et des outils linguistiques sont requis pour permettre l’exercice de ces activités. Pour ce type de politique de traduction, le cas breton étudié ici suggère d’explorer les voies d’une terminologie descriptive plutôt que prescriptive, la dialectologie, la science et les productions collaboratives.
