Abstract
While hip hop is an overlooked facet of Ottawa's cultural mosaic, Ottawa has similarly been overlooked concerning its place in the story of hip hop in Canada.A study of Ottawa's hip hop history can serve as a useful lens for investigating issues related to local and national identity in Canada. As a bilingual border city geographically situated between two larger industry hubs in Toronto and Montreal-and the political center of Canada-Ottawa's cultural identity is indeed complex and fragmented. This study retraces some of the global flows critical to the story of hip hop in Ottawa with the belief that a closer look at the ways hip hop practices have been taken up in the city can provide valuable insights toward a better understanding of Canada, its people, and the ideas that shape our cultural identities.guidance and mentorship have been a driving force throughout my journey. The wisdom and insight imparted by Dr. William Echard and Dr. Awad Ibrahim, my committee chairs, through their incisive questions and invaluable advice, have been pivotal in keeping me grounded and perseverant. My heartfelt thanks go out to my family-my parents, Cindy and Bob, and my sister, Carissa-

Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
