Abstract
Cette contribution propose une analyse de deux ouvrages littéraires collectifs autour d’histoires de jeunes femmes et de grands-mères d’origine portugaise immigrées qui sont arrivées au Canada ou ailleurs dans des contextes similaires. Avós : raízes e nós (2020), de Aida Baptista, Ilda Januário et Manuela Marujo, offre un véritable parcours au sein de représentations identitaires de personnes issues de la migration portugaise en quête d’identité, face à leurs grands-parents souvent restés au pays. Menina e moça me levaram (2021), de Aida Baptista, au contraire, veut mettre en avant la position de femme immigrante et de réussite, en soulignant les obstacles existentiels rencontrés tout au long du processus d’intégration linguistique et sociale, et en proposant la richesse et la diversité de certains chemins de vie. Nous soulignons ici l’histoire de Joaquina Pires et son « voyage » personnel de migrante, parcours exemplaire qui s’inscrit au sein de la communauté portugaise de Montréal.
