Cet article tente de positionner le concept de créolisation en musique et d’en mesurer la fécondité pour la compréhension du phénomène musical. Les stratégies de production comme celles des conduites d’écoute sont complexes et procurent au phénomène musical une épaisseur sémantique et polysémique. La créolisation suffit-elle alors pour éclairer les processus de construction identitaire à travers les pratiques musicales ? L’article examine, dans cette foulée, certaines musiques de la Martinique. Souhaitant mettre en exergue la relation dynamique entre la musique et le processus de construction identitaire, il cherche à montrer la fécondité de concepts autres que celui de la créolisation, comme ceux de territorialité musicale, de signature singulière et de procédés performanciels.
