Cet article se propose d’examiner la façon dont la transmission intergénérationnelle de la mémoire aboutit à une (re)constitution de l'identité. Les deux romans de Kaoutar Harchi et de Samir Toumi examinent la recherche d’individualité au sein d'un cadre familial régenté par l'ordre social et impacté par deux contextes de vie fondamentalement opposés. La mémoire et le souvenir sont au cœur d'un processus de transmission qui se trouve rompu et figé dans le cas du roman L'effacement de Samir Toumi et réajusté à une nouvelle réalité de partage de savoirs et des expériences communautaires dans le récit autobiographique Comme nous existons de Kaoutar Harchi. En étudiant le cas de la transmission intergénérationnelle en situation (post) migratoire et (post)coloniale, il nous faut tenir compte de l’élaboration identitaire complexe d’une génération par rapport à une autre et de la construction subjective qui en résulte. Il s’agit dans cet article de comprendre comment le questionnement qui a été initié sous forme de quête dans le cas de l'auteure Kaoutar Harchi et d’une thérapie dans le cas de l’écrivain Samir Toumi a généré deux attitudes opposées par rapport à l'objet de la transmission et quels en ont été les enjeux et les différentes manifestations.
