Abstract
Born in 1962 with the Canadian Geographical Information System (CGIS), the GIS knew a spectacular development and broaden its applications, touching various disciplines that made its potential come out. Nonetheless, many functions have not been exploited yet. And it is precisely in domains other than the most usual, such as the quantitative geography, that we can appreciate the value of this tool, as this historical research El éxodo catalán de 1936 a través de los Pirineos. De la derrota a la victoria demonstrates.
