Abstract
Les arthrites chez le bovin sont un motif courant de consultation, avec pour signe premier d’appel une boiterie qu’il conviendra de caractériser. Dans les cas aigus, les quatre signes cardinaux de l’inflammation (rougeur, chaleur, gonflement, douleur) sont observables. Dans les cas les plus chroniques, une ankylose de l’articulation concernée associée à un remaniement majeur des aplombs sont à noter. Identifier l’origine la plus probable de l’arthrite présente un intérêt épidémiologique, mais permet également de traiter l’affection à la source quand il s’agit d’une arthrite consécutive à un phénomène bactériémique. Le recours aux examens complémentaires est utile dans le but de confirmer avec certitude le diagnostic, d’établir un pronostic et d’orienter vers la prise en charge la plus adaptée. Ces examens complémentaires incluent l’examen du liquide synovial (biochimie et cytologie), l’échographie et la radiographie de l’articulation en question.
