Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Capuchin monkeys are Neotropical primates (parvorder: Platyrrhini) pertaining to the subfamily Cebinae. This group is subdivided into two genera, the robust or tufted capuchins ( Sapajus ) and the gracile or untufted capuchins ( Cebus ) (Lynch Alfaro et al., 2012a , b ), although the species-level taxonomy is still controversial and not completely resolved (García-Restrepo & Montilla, 2021 ; Lima et al., 2017 , 2018 ; Martins et al., 2023 ; Szynwelski et al., 2024 ). These two genera represent two lineages that diverged from one another in the Miocene, with a late Pliocene diversification within each of the two genera (Lynch Alfaro et al., 2012a ). Formerly, both the robust and gracile capuchins were included in a single genus, Cebus , containing all robust forms in a single species, Cebus apella , while some species diversity was recognized in the gracile capuchins (Wright et al., 2015 ). Recent phylogenetic analyses of capuchin monkey species found two well-supported reciprocally monophyletic clades, corresponding to the morphologically distinct gracile and robust genera (Lima et al., 2017 ; Lynch Alfaro et al., 2012a ; Martins et al., 2023 ).

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
