Abstract
Alors que se profile un « tsunami d’inactivité physique », est-il bien raisonnable d’oser proposer aux élèves de « marcher » en EPS ? Dans un contexte sociétal triplement marqué par l’accélération effrénée des rythmes de vie, la généralisation de la compétition et la systématisation des relations aliénantes à soi, aux autres et à l’environnement, la marche apparaît comme une activité offrant la possibilité aux adolescents de vivre des expériences corporelles à la fois originales et variées. Bien qu’en apparence instinctive, la marche s’apprend. Ce faisant, elle est en mesure de contribuer à l’éducation sensorielle des élèves, à l’apaisement des relations sociales et à un rapprochement vis-à-vis du milieu naturel dans une perspective éco-centrée. Plusieurs dilemmes professionnels sont ici discutés : programmer une séquence de marche vs improviser des marches ponctuelles à la volée ; marcher en parlant vs en silence ; marcher seul vs en groupe. Des ateliers ludiques sont proposés (marcher en pleine conscience ou pieds nus) afin d’encourager les enseignants d’EPS à reconsidérer la marche au sein des programmations.
