This review provides a comprehensive analysis of implicated medications, underlying mechanisms (including arteriolar vasodilation, sodium/water retention, increased capillary permeability, and lymphedema), and differential diagnoses. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing drug-induced edema in patients presenting with bilateral leg swelling and the need for careful medication review and potential dose adjustments. The review notes the limited efficacy of diuretics in this context and calls for further research to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies.
