Abstract
En 1982, Frédéric Baumann est le seul Français à participer aux épreuves sportives des premiers Gay Games de San Francisco. Quatre ans plus tard, il fait partie de la délégation française mise en place par Pascal Bibollet pour assister à la deuxième édition de l’événement. À son retour naît le Comité Gay Paris Île-de-France, un club omnisport à l’origine de la Fédération française de sport gay et lesbien, qui portera la candidature de Paris à l’organisation des Gay Games en 2018. À partir de récits de vie recueillis auprès des principaux acteurs à l’origine du sport LGBT français, lesquels sont couplés aux informations contenues dans les bulletins des structures fédératrices de ce sport et, par ailleurs, dans la presse gay française, l’article montre comment l’histoire de cette communauté sportive et des événements qu’elle organise contribue à une anthropologie du corps en interrogeant les rapports entre genre et performance, mais aussi entre sexualité et maladie, visibilité et invisibilité, au temps du sida. Les résultats éclairent les tensions associées à ce double questionnement, notamment dans la prise en compte des sportives lesbiennes et dans l’inclusion des personnes séropositives au VIH.
