Este artigo analisa os projetos de lei de responsabilidade educacional em disputa no Brasil, cujo trânsito ocorre na Câmara dos Deputados e no Senado. Essas iniciativas emergem como possibilidades para responder aos problemas do sistema educacional, cada vez mais afetado pelas desigualdades socioeconômicas e regionais. Assim, a realização desta pesquisa se deu através de uma análise documental dos Projetos de Lei 7420/2006, da Câmara, e 88/2023, do Senado, subsidiada, por mediações elaboradas de acordo com a literatura especializada, em autores como Costa e Vidal (2020), Simões (2016), Filipe (2021), Souza e Cabral Neto (2018) e Ximenes (2012, 2014), os quais estudam o fenômeno da responsabilidade e responsabilização educacionais. Em síntese, os projetos apresentam abordagens divergentes sobre a qualidade do sistema educacional e a responsabilização de gestores e educadores, refletindo a complexidade de se garantir educação pública de qualidade no Brasil.
