Abstract
During June 2011, new excavations began at Horbat Huqoq (henceforth: Huqoq) in the Eastern Galilee (License No. G-19/2011; map ref. 245198/754556). The 2011 excavations were sponsored by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA.), Wofford College (South Carolina, USA.), and the University of Toronto (Canada), and directed by J. Magness of UNC-Chapel Hill. Additional funding was provided by the Foundation for Biblical Archaeology (S. Bishop). Assisting staff members were D. Amit (co-director; not present in the field in 2011), S. Kisilevitz (assistant co-director), M. Golan (administration), B. McCane (senior area supervisor), C. Spigel and M. Grey (area supervisors), T. De`adle (area supervisor and consultant), M. Robinson-Mohr (registration), J. Bucko (surveying), J. Haberman (field photography), D. Schindler (ceramics), X.-M. Vo (faunal remains), D. Porotsky and V. Pirsky (preparation of top plans and section drawings), and Y. Ben-Yaacov (site conservation). The volunteers consisted of undergraduate and graduate students from the USA and Canada. This was the first in a series of six projected seasons of excavations at the site, which had been surveyed in the past but was never excavated.
