Abstract
U prilogu se razmatra tematski kompleks tzv. inzularnosti – svojevrsne geste odustajanja od povijesti, razvijene u romanima "Izgubljeni zavičaj" (1954) i "Mirisi, zlato i tamjan" (1968) Slobodana Novaka – u modernističkoj hrvatskoj kinematografiji 1960-ih i 70-ih. Osim kasnijih adaptacija Novakovih djela u filmovima Ante Babaje "Mirisi, zlato i tamjan" (1971) i "Izgubljeni zavičaj" (1980) taj se kompleks na filmu prvi put uprizorio u filmu "Prometej s otoka Viševice" (1964) Vatroslava Mimice, priči o partizanu Mati Bakuli koja je filmski predočena kao rad sjećanja potaknut povratkom na rodni otok 20 godina nakon rata. Glavna je teza rada da Mimičin film nosi snažne motivske, tematske i strukturalne tragove lektire "Izgubljenog zavičaja". Figura razočaranog revolucionara pristigla je u hrvatski film upravo iz Novaka. Pitanje tretmana prostora i vremena u filmskoj priči i njezinu izlaganju kao presudno pitanje modernizma otvoreno je u hrvatskom modernističkom filmu upravo u onim igranim filmovima koji su, na fonu Novakovih djela, svoje filmske strukture uprizorili kao rad sjećanja i metaforu nemogućnosti povratka modernističkoga antijunaka u izgubljeni zavičaj.
