Abstract
Publié en 1958, L’Été enchanté de Paule Daveluy marque le début de la modernisation du roman québécois pour adolescentes, s’éloignant des tendances conservatrices et moralisatrices de l’époque. Ce roman autobiographique explore la vie intérieure d’une jeune fille de 16 ans, décrivant son évolution psychologique et ses émotions avec soin. Bien que des éléments de modernité émergent, le récit reste ancré dans des valeurs traditionalistes, comme l’importance de la famille et de la religion. Sur le plan formel, le roman innove en adoptant un point de vue à la première personne, un procédé peu courant à l’époque. Il recourt également au passé pour donner la voix à la protagoniste adulte qui se remémore ses seize ans. Ainsi, tout en racontant l’action, l’héroïne commente ses émotions et ses réactions en tant que narratrice. En somme, L’Été enchanté oscille entre traditionalisme et modernité, et demeure une lecture précieuse pour les adolescentes, leur offrant une leçon de maturité, loin des idéologies nationalistes et des rô̂les traditionnels des femmes.
